EU Refuses to Increase Purchases of Canadian Fossil Fuels Despite Trade Pressure

The European Union does not intend to increase its imports of fossil energy from Canada. Belén Martínez Carbonell, Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS), the EU's diplomatic corps, confirmed this orientation during a press conference held on February 27 in Ottawa. The diplomat was visiting to discuss several pressing priorities in foreign policy and defense with senior Canadian officials.
