German group Energiekontor AG, a developer and operator of wind and solar parks, confirmed it has reached financial close on three wind projects in Frechen, Nideggen and Wulkow-Boossen. These projects, with a combined capacity of approximately 73 megawatts, are now ready for construction. Commissioning is scheduled for 2027, in line with the announced timeline.

Technological diversification across German sites

The wind farm in Frechen, located in the Rhine-Erft district of North Rhine-Westphalia, will be equipped with three Nordex N149-4.5 turbines, each with a nominal output of 4.5 megawatts, a 149-metre rotor, and a hub height of 125 metres. At Wulkow-Boossen in Brandenburg, eight Vestas V150-6.0 turbines will be installed, each rated at 6 megawatts, with a 150-metre rotor and a hub height of 166 metres. The Nideggen site, in the Düren district, will host two Enercon E-160 EP5 E3 turbines of 5.6 megawatts each, with a rotor diameter of 160 metres and a hub height of 167 metres.

A rapidly expanding asset portfolio

Together, the three wind farms are expected to generate an average of 156 gigawatt hours of electricity annually from their first full year of operation. Including these new developments, Energiekontor has now secured financing for twelve wind and solar projects in 2025, with a total capacity of 326 megawatts. The company currently has 19 projects under construction, representing more than 610 megawatts, including nearly 200 megawatts for its own asset portfolio.

Revenue expected in 2026 despite revised timeline

Three turnkey projects in Germany, already sold, are expected to be commissioned as scheduled and contribute to the group’s 2026 financial results. Despite a downward revision of forecasts for 2025, the company stated that this adjustment was due to timing shifts in revenue recognition and does not impact the robustness of its ongoing projects.

Peter Szabo, Chief Executive Officer of Energiekontor AG, noted that construction activity has reached an unprecedented level in the company’s history, supported by a strong pipeline of approved and developing projects.
