Africa now hosts the highest concentration of floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) infrastructure worldwide, according to the African Energy Chamber (AEC). The industry organization indicates in its State of African Energy 2026 Outlook report that the continent’s gas demand is expected to increase by 60% by 2050. Facing this prospect, several countries are accelerating investments in floating liquefaction units, presented as a faster alternative less exposed to onshore challenges than conventional terminals.
