Venezuela Opens Its Oil Sector to Private Companies to Revive 1.2 Mb/d Production

Venezuela is preparing to radically transform its oil model. The National Assembly has passed in first reading a bill opening hydrocarbon exploitation to the private sector. This major reform ends decades of state monopoly over the country’s oil resources, which holds the world’s largest proven reserves.
