United States Extends Serbian Oil Company NIS License by Four Weeks
Washington grants a new deadline until February 20 to NIS, under US sanctions due to its majority Russian shareholding. Divestiture negotiations with Hungary’s MOL are underway.

The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department extended the temporary license granted to Naftna Industrija Srbije (NIS) by four weeks, according to the Serbian Ministry of Finance as reported by national television RTS. This extension, valid until February 20, allows the oil company to continue operations despite the sanctions imposed on it. NIS holds a central position in the Serbian market, supplying according to its own data 80% of domestic petroleum products.
