TotalEnergies has started up its first French chemical plastic recycling unit at its Grandpuits platform in Seine-et-Marne. The facility, with an annual capacity of 15,000 tonnes, marks a new step in the conversion of the former refinery into what the group refers to as a "zero-oil platform". The technology is based on pyrolysis, a process that involves heating plastic waste at high temperature without oxygen and under pressure.
