Syria: Oil and Gas Production Expected to Resume in 2026 According to Wood Mackenzie
The Syrian government is regaining control of strategic energy assets in the northeast of the country. This territorial reunification, combined with the lifting of Western sanctions, paves the way for production to resume this year.

Syrian government forces have regained control of major oil and gas assets located in Deir ez-Zor and Al-Raqqah provinces. This operation includes the Omar oil field, the country’s largest, as well as the Tabiyeh gas field. This transfer follows the withdrawal of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led militia, under a 14-point agreement concluded with Damascus.
