US and Israeli attacks on Iran have triggered a surge in oil and natural gas prices, reviving memories of an energy crisis similar to the 1970s. Brent crude reached $83 a barrel on Tuesday morning. Following Qatar's announced production halt on Monday, daily freight rates for tankers carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) jumped more than 40%.
