US and Israeli strikes on Iran are reviving concerns about the stability of global energy supplies. Iran borders the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic passage between the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea. "It's a very narrow chokepoint, and if it closes or if passage is restricted, there's no alternative route," said Jim Krane, Middle East specialist at Rice University's Baker Institute.
