Petron Scientech, a company specializing in process technologies for renewable chemicals and biofuels, has announced a strategic partnership with Verdagy, a key player in electrolysis. This project aims to integrate electrolyzers with a total capacity of 320 MW into Petron Scientech’s first biorefinery, marking a significant step forward in the production of sustainable fuels and low-carbon chemicals.

Verdagy’s eDynamic® electrolyzers will produce more than 45 kilotons of green hydrogen annually. This hydrogen will be used in the production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF), renewable diesel, and e-methanol. According to estimates, these technologies will enable a CO₂ emission reduction of 2 megatons per year, with a total reduction potential of 60 megatons over the project’s lifespan.

A strategic partnership for global projects

This partnership is part of Petron Scientech’s strategy to develop low-carbon-intensity biorefineries. The company, which is already in advanced discussions with airlines and maritime operators for SAF and e-methanol supply agreements, is relying on Verdagy’s technology to achieve its sustainability and production goals.

Yogi Sarin, CEO of Petron Scientech, emphasized that the choice of Verdagy was based on the ability of its electrolyzers to integrate efficiently into large-scale industrial projects. “Verdagy meets our expectations in terms of performance, cost, and scalability,” he stated.

Verdagy’s technology serving green hydrogen

Verdagy, based in Silicon Valley, recently opened an electrolyzer manufacturing facility with a 1-gigawatt production capacity. These devices are designed to operate with intermittent renewable energy sources while ensuring a levelized cost of hydrogen (LCOH) among the most competitive on the market.

Marty Neese, CEO of Verdagy, explained that their mission is to provide green hydrogen at costs comparable to fossil fuels within five years, without subsidies. The eDynamic® electrolyzers offer increased efficiency and significant operational flexibility, making them particularly well-suited for large-scale industrial projects.

Energy transition driven by innovation

The partnership between Petron Scientech and Verdagy reflects the growing efforts of the energy industry to adopt large-scale low-carbon solutions. As demand for sustainable fuels and renewable chemicals continues to rise, this project demonstrates how strategic collaborations can transform markets while significantly reducing global carbon footprints.
