The Peruvian government is considering bringing in private investors for state-owned oil company Petroperu, according to Luis Del Carpio, head of Proinversion, the government’s investment promotion agency. This opening to private capital would notably involve the Talara refinery, valued at $5.6 billion, as well as the Norperuano pipeline, a 1,100-kilometer infrastructure currently inactive located in the north of the country. The official specifies, however, that this approach would not constitute privatization.
