NIS Restarts Serbian Refinery After Obtaining US Sanctions Waiver
Oil company NIS, majority-owned by Russian interests, has restarted its refinery in Serbia after nearly two months of shutdown. A sale to Hungarian group MOL is currently under negotiation.

Oil company NIS has restarted its refinery in Serbia after obtaining a temporary exemption from sanctions imposed by the United States. According to Dubravka Djedovic Handanovic, Serbia’s Energy Minister, the facility resumed operations after a shutdown of nearly two months. The resumption of crude oil imports was made possible by a waiver granted by Washington.
