Murphy Oil has confirmed a significant oil discovery offshore Vietnam in the Cuu Long Basin, with recoverable reserves now estimated at up to 430 million barrels of oil equivalent (mmboe). The HSV-2X appraisal well, drilled in the Hai Su Vang (HSV) field, encountered 429 feet of oil across two reservoirs, tested at a flow rate of 6,000 barrels per day with 37° API crude. This positions HSV as the most substantial oil discovery in Southeast Asia in the last two decades.
