Masdar and EPCG Explore Joint Venture to Develop Renewable Energy in Montenegro

UAE-based Masdar and Montenegrin national utility EPCG are exploring a joint venture dedicated to solar, wind and hydropower projects. The agreement, signed during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026, also targets electricity exports to the Balkans.

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company PJSC, known as Masdar, and Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), Montenegro’s national power utility, have announced they are exploring the creation of a joint venture dedicated to developing large-scale renewable energy projects. The signing took place in the presence of Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Chairman of Masdar, Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, and Admir Šahmanović, Minister of Energy and Mining for Montenegro. Under the terms of the agreement, both parties plan to develop, construct, own and operate facilities covering multiple technologies.
