Lifthium Energy, a Portuguese company, has received a €180M ($210M) grant from the government to build a lithium refinery in Estarreja, northern Portugal, approximately 50 kilometers south of Porto. This non-refundable aid falls under the European Union’s Temporary Crisis Framework, which authorizes state incentives to accelerate green and industrial transformation. The facility would target the electric vehicle battery market.
