Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority announced that it may entirely cancel the ongoing inspection process for the Hamaoka plant operated by Chubu Electric Power, or even reject the restart request, after the utility admitted to manipulating data used in the safety review. The plant, located on the Pacific coast, has had its units No. 3 and No. 4 under extended evaluation for over a decade, following the implementation of stricter safety regulations after the 2011 Fukushima accident.
