Wales is set to take an unprecedented regulatory step in the United Kingdom. New Welsh building standards, which will take effect on March 4, 2027, will introduce a requirement to install an on-site renewable electricity generation system for every new building whose construction has not yet begun on that date. Wales thus moves ahead of England, whose equivalent regulations have not yet been finalized.
