Ignitis Group has confirmed its participation in Lithuania’s offshore wind tender for the development of at least 700 megawatts (MW) of capacity in the Baltic Sea. The project is backed by state support through a contract for difference mechanism. The bid was submitted by UAB “Ignitis renewables projektai 5”, a wholly owned subsidiary of UAB “Ignitis renewables”.
A regulated support contract framework
The tender regulations allow bidders to choose between paying a development fee or requesting public support through a two-way contract for difference. This mechanism provides a tariff range between EUR75.45/MWh and EUR125.74/MWh, partially indexed until a generation permit is obtained, for a maximum of eight years after receiving development and operation authorisation.
The tender was relaunched on 9 June 2025 and closed on 7 October 2025. The winning bidder will be announced by the end of the year by the National Energy Regulatory Council, the authority overseeing the process. The group stated it will not issue further announcements unless the bid is successful.
Renewable capacity expansion goals
Ignitis Group is pursuing an ambitious strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio. The company aims to quadruple its green production capacity from 1.4 gigawatts (GW) in 2024 to between 4 and 5 GW by 2030. As of now, its installed green capacity stands at 2.1 GW.
The group noted that a successful bid would trigger the next phase of partner selection for the project. The company also confirmed that this development does not impact its adjusted EBITDA or investment guidance for 2025.
