Iberdrola Secures €175 Million EIB Loan for Two Wind Farms in Portugal
The European Investment Bank grants a green loan to Iberdrola to build two wind farms with 274 MW capacity in northern Portugal. These facilities will be integrated into the Tâmega hydroelectric complex.

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has signed a €175 million green loan with Iberdrola to support the construction and operation of two new wind farms in northern Portugal. These facilities will have a combined capacity of 274 MW and will be integrated into the Tâmega pumped storage hydropower complex, also known as the “Tâmega gigabattery.” According to Iberdrola, this would be the first project in Portugal combining a hybrid connection between pumped storage and wind power.
