The Hinkley Point C nuclear power plant, located in Somerset, England, has taken delivery of the pressure vessel for its second EPR (European Pressurized Reactor) unit. This high-strength steel cylinder weighs 500 tonnes and measures 13 metres in length. Framatome manufactured the component at its Saint-Marcel plant in Chalon-sur-Saône, eastern France. The French manufacturer announced the completion of this piece in late November last year.
