China’s 125 MWe ACP100 Modular Reactor Passes Key Turbine Test
The ACP100 modular reactor, presented as the world’s first commercial land-based SMR, successfully completed its non-nuclear turbine test. China National Nuclear Corporation targets commercial operation in the first half of 2026.

China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced the successful completion of the non-nuclear turbine run test for the ACP100 modular reactor, conducted on 23 December at the Changjiang site in Hainan island province. According to the company, the test was completed on the first attempt. CNNC presents the ACP100 as the world’s first commercial land-based small modular reactor (SMR). All systems reportedly achieved stable operation, with parameters meeting design specifications, according to the company’s data.
