U.S.-based provider Alpine Power Systems has completed the acquisition of Chicago Industrial Battery, founded in 2010 by Mark Calderini, a veteran of the sector with more than 30 years of experience. This marks Alpine Power Systems’ 29th acquisition, as the company focuses on motive power, critical power, and telecommunications energy solutions.
Chicago Industrial Battery has established itself in industrial markets across Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana, and Iowa, building a loyal customer base. The company is known for its responsiveness and direct client service in logistics-heavy sectors.
Expansion of the PowerMAX line and regional foothold
The integration of Chicago Industrial Battery fits into Alpine Power Systems’ targeted growth strategy, focused on the development of its PowerMAX line. This programme includes the distribution of used and rental batteries and chargers for industrial handling equipment.
According to Adam Cecil, Divisional President of Motive Power at Alpine, the acquisition allows “the combination of Chicago Industrial Battery’s local expertise with Alpine’s national infrastructure”, with the goal of improving response times and expanding inventory availability for large-scale industrial clients.
Operational continuity and customer synergy
Mark Calderini will remain involved in operations to ensure continuity and maintain existing commercial relationships. This local presence is intended to preserve customer proximity while offering expanded access to Alpine’s technical and logistical resources.
The move addresses increasing demand for flexible energy solutions, particularly in sectors where battery rentals or refurbished units are used to optimise cost management and maintenance cycles.
Nationwide expansion and integration strategy
The acquisition forms part of Alpine Power Systems’ broader national expansion plan. By strengthening its position in the Chicago area, the company also increases its coverage of the U.S. Midwest, one of the country’s densest industrial zones.
Alpine Power Systems continues to pursue a growth-through-acquisition model, combining vertical integration with geographical expansion. The company plans to keep investing in local assets that accelerate its service capabilities while preserving the legacy relationships of the acquired entities.
