AEP Energy and Global Energy Generation have announced that they have signed an agreement for the Mammoth Solar project in Indiana.
This 1.65 GW project will be developed in several phases, the 1st of which will begin in late 2021 with the construction of 480 MW of solar.

AEP Energy continues to invest in solar energy

AEP Energy, a subsidiary ofAmerican Electric Power, is one of the largest wholesale and retail providers of electric power in the United States.
It has partnered with Global Energy Generation LLC (Doral LLC), a leading developer ofrenewable energy projects.
The two have signed a long-termsolar power purchase agreement for the 1.65 GW Mammoth Solar project in Indiana.
Mammoth Solar 1, the first phase of the project developed by Doral LLC, will be a 480 MW DC solar power project.
Construction is scheduled to start in late 2021, with commercial operation scheduled to begin in 2023.
Mammoth Solar 1 will eliminate 40,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions and save 1 billion gallons of irrigation well water per year.
AEP Energy President Greg Hall said,

« Agreements like the one with Doral LLC show how our energy solutions can support the development of new clean, renewable energy resources, stimulate local economies and help our customers power their homes and businesses with clean, reliable energy. »

Indeed, the Mammoth Solar project will cover a total of more than 12,000 acres in Starke and Pulaski counties in northern Indiana, and will boost the local economy with several hundred million dollars of investment.
