Solar Generation selects Castillo Engineering Group for a portfolio of community solar projects in New York City.
Community Solar Projects
Solar Generation selects Castillo Engineering to provide electrical design and engineering services for a specific portfolio. This portfolio involves 75MW of community solar projects in New York. The project will use fixed-tilt mounting technology and bifacial solar modules.
The majority of the projects are currently under construction. The end of the works will take place by the end of 2022 and 2023. Zachary Schrowang, COO of Solar Generation, states:
“We knew we could count on Castillo Engineering for this portfolio of projects because of their team’s hundreds of megawatts of experience in the New York and Massachusetts areas. Despite the challenging terrain many of these projects faced, Castillo Engineering was very flexible and worked closely with us to ensure that all deadlines were met. They are an extremely collaborative partner who can also easily and cost-effectively manage projects where the equipment has already been purchased.”
A pioneering state
New York State ranks 11th in terms of installed solar capacity. It is now the nation’s largest community solar market, with over 1GW of solar power. The state also has the largest network of community solar projects in the United States.
This project to produce 70% of electricity from renewable sources by 2030 and expect 10GW of solar energy. Moreover, carbon neutrality would be achieved by 2050. In addition to this portfolio, Solar Generation wants Castillo Engineering to support over 10MW of community solar projects in Illinois.
