Plenitude has inaugurated its new 50 MW Villanueva II solar power plant in Torrejoncillo del Rey, in the Cuenca region of Spain. The facility covers almost 100 hectares and is connected to the national transmission grid via the Torrejoncillo del Rey substation and a 28 km high-voltage overhead line. The park comprises over 76,000 photovoltaic modules, producing 100 GWh per year, meeting the energy needs of over 30,000 households.

Strategic Partnerships and Contributions

The Villanueva II project was carried out in partnership with Zaragoza Group, which specializes in the development and construction of renewable energy plants, and Solida Renewables, a provider of engineering and consulting services in the renewable energy sector. These collaborations were crucial to the rapid and efficient implementation of the project.

Strengthening our Regional Presence

This new facility joins the 104.5 MW El Monte wind farm, inaugurated in October 2022, consolidating Plenitude’s presence in the Castilla-La Mancha region. With the commissioning of Villanueva II, Plenitude now has around 430 MW of solar and wind power plants in operation in Spain, spread across regions such as Galicia, La Rioja, Catalonia, Castilla-La Mancha and Murcia.

Expansion and Continuous Development

In addition to operational facilities, Plenitude has several projects under development, totalling over 1,000 MW. These projects are located in Andalusia (Seville and Granada), Castilla y León (Salamanca and Soria) and Extremadura (Badajoz). This expansion is part of the company’s overall strategy to increase its installed capacity from renewable sources.

Energy Market Outlook

Plenitude continues to invest heavily in the renewable energy sector, aligning its objectives with market trends and growing energy needs. The commissioning of Villanueva II represents a key step in the company’s drive to increase its renewable energy production capacity, with plans to achieve ambitious targets by 2030. The commissioning of Villanueva II demonstrates Plenitude’s commitment to strengthening its position in the Spanish renewable energy market. With projects underway and a growing installed capacity, the company is gearing up to meet the future challenges of the energy market.
