Large-scale projects

Floating wind should be able to develop more rapidly thanks to its new leader BW Ideol combining the float-based technological expertise developed by Ideol with BW Offshore ‘s experience in the development and operation of offshore power generation systems. Initially, these complementary skills will be put to work on a pipeline of multi-GW projects initiated by Ideol in Europe, Japan and the United States.

Three areas of strategic development

BW Ideol intends to become a leading developer of large-scale floating offshore wind projects. To do so, the entity wishes to develop and expand its portfolio of projects as a co-developer. Its ambition is to establish, in the long term, a leading position as an operator of floating wind farms.

BW ideol also seeks to consolidate its position as a supplier of EPCI (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation) technologies and services. Finally, BW wants to pursue an ambitious R&D strategy in order to preserve its technological advantage.

BW Ideol is now targeting a capital increase via a listing on Euronext Growth Oslo by the end of March. Following these operations, BW Ideol will be approximately 50% owned by BW Offshore. This global champion in floating offshore wind energy will combine technological leadership, industrial expertise and financial strength to offer strong growth potential in the medium to long term. This is a growing market, particularly in the North Sea off the European coast.
