Bedmutha Industries Limited (BIL), a leading manufacturer and exporter of steel and copper cables and products, signs a long-term agreement with TotalEnergies ENEOS for a 3 MWp solar PV system on the roof of its manufacturing facility in Nardana, Maharashtra.

BIL commits to mitigating greenhouse gas emissions through solar energy

The solar system is expected to power approximately 28% of the facility with renewable energy, generating approximately 4,600 MWh of renewable electricity per year and reducing the company’s carbon footprint by approximately 3,600 tons of CO2 emissions per year.

TotalEnergies ENEOS will finance, install and operate the solar system, while BIL will purchase the solar electricity produced during the contract period. The transition to renewable energy is in line with BIL’s commitment to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and produce sustainable steel with cost-effective use of resources, according to Mr. K. R. Bedmutha, President of Bedmutha Industries Limited.

TotalEnergies ENEOS is committed to helping more industrial customers reduce both their energy costs and their carbon footprint. As a 50/50 joint venture between TotalEnergies and ENEOS, TotalEnergies ENEOS Renewables Distributed Generation Asia plans to develop 2 GW of distributed solar capacity in Asia over the next five years. TotalEnergies aims to reach 35 GW of gross generating capacity from renewable sources and storage by 2025 and 100 GW by 2030 to be among the top five producers of electricity from wind and solar power worldwide.

The 3 MWp solar photovoltaic system is an important initiative for the use of renewable energy in the industrial sector

ENEOS Corporation operates more than 20 solar power plants in Japan and is also involved in renewable energy projects in the United States, Australia and Vietnam. This joint venture is ENEOS’ first overseas renewable energy project using distributed energy sources. The ENEOS Group has developed activities in the energy and non-ferrous metals sectors and contributes to the development of a low-carbon and recycling-oriented society with the pursuit of a carbon neutral status for its own CO2 emissions.

Bedmutha Industries Limited is a leading producer of steel wires and products in Western India and its products have applications in various industries such as automotive, power, infrastructure, agriculture and retail. The manufacturing facility, spread over 50 acres of land located at Nardana, Dhule (Maharashtra), has a current installed capacity of 86,400 MTPA for its steel division and 16,200 MTPA for its copper division.

Indeed, the agreement between Bedmutha Industries Limited and TotalEnergies ENEOS for a 3 MWp solar photovoltaic system is an important initiative to reduce the company’s carbon footprint and to promote the use of renewable energy in the industrial sector. This cooperation is part of TotalEnergies ENEOS’ commitment to further develop decentralized solar capacities in Asia and to contribute to the fight against climate change.
