Chinese energy storage system manufacturer Beijing HyperStrong Technology Co., Ltd. has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), the world’s leading lithium-ion battery supplier. The agreement includes a minimum order of 200 GWh of battery cells from CATL by HyperStrong over a three-year period, from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028.
A structured partnership through 2035
Beyond the volume commitment, both companies have set a cooperation framework through 2035. Each year before December 1, HyperStrong and CATL will jointly review and update their rolling three-year cooperation targets, based on memorandums of understanding. This mechanism aims to continuously adapt to global market developments and evolving industrial priorities.
Deployment of new business models
The partnership goes beyond battery supply. It includes joint development of innovative business models such as creating energy storage sector investment funds and establishing an integrated platform for project development, investment, operation and maintenance.
HyperStrong and CATL also plan to jointly procure components for alternating current (AC) systems, with the aim of improving logistical coordination and optimising supply chains.
Strengthening the energy storage industrial chain
This alliance is part of HyperStrong’s global expansion strategy to build a diversified energy storage ecosystem. By combining their respective expertise in battery technology, system integration and international deployment, both companies aim to reinforce their market position.
According to the agreement, the long-term cooperation is expected to enhance resource integration, boost competitiveness, and address core technological and industrial challenges more effectively.
